Vivian

“I really loved my session with Monique! Her approach is very welcoming to open up, and she asked me profound questions to help me enlighten some obstacles on my path, find the root causes of my issues, and create a clear plan to overcome them. I have been following that plan for almost a month now, and I already see some significant changes starting to happen in my life. I highly recommend everyone to give it a go and truly uncover their unseen potential!”

Travis

"Monique's SyncSelf service was extremely helpful to me. I had recently started a business with my friend but within a short period of time was mistreated, which led to a falling out. I didn't know how to navigate the situation as I still cared deeply for my friend but I needed to resolve the situation and part ways.

Monique helped me to understand that our values weren't aligning, which was leading to stress, poor decisions, and ultimately more stress. This helped me to understand the importance of a framework for how to co-workers should treat each other within a business.

With this information, Monique helped me realize a plan to move forward with my friendship and business in a way that was better than I could've imagined. I felt so relieved after going through the exercise and am going to recommend any friends or family to use SyncSelf if they're going through something similar."

Jenny

“I would highly recommend Monique to anyone who is having a tough time and needs to feel heard. She listened to me about the struggles of my first-year of university. Monique showed genuine passion for helping me, which was showcased by her attention to detail, capacity to ask clarifying questions, and her ability to be a great listener. Her service is so simple yet so effective. She simply listens to you, allows you to voice all your thoughts, and asks subtle questions to help you navigate yourself on the right path. Despite having talked to all my friends about these struggles, I still found Monique the most helpful. She gave me a new direction in life which I have since followed.

Monique’s service is not therapy, nor life coaching. It is perfect for those who are not struggling as much as those with mental health conditions, but also for those who are tired of listening to others advice; In other words, people who are just suffering a rough patch of life. - Jenny Zhong”

"I am grateful for the opportunity to take a step forward and try this deep conversation with Monique. In recent years, I felt the need to rebuild the concept of "family" from my twenties onwards. Previously, I didn't find much value in exploring or reminiscing about past events, and I even felt the need to emerge from an illusionary world and reconstruct a true self and a life that truly belongs to me.

However, after experiencing the conversation with Monique, I gradually revisited childhood memories and talked about my current life. Some things I hadn't thought of saying out loud came to light. In the end, I truly want to use this interview to find the answers I have been seeking, and I value this experience immensely.

This opportunity allows me to extract some strength from my busy life, providing to myself that I am not what others may label me as. Focusing on the theme of family, I hope to write a brief summary for myself. Fortunately, in this period of time, I found important sentences and words related to my life without denying my past. Like the term 'elder sister,' although it may be a simple term, it gave me the motivation to cherish myself and think about starting anew. As you continued to delve into the meaning behind it, it helped me find its significance in my heart. It's not just about perspectives on family; it also affirmed my problem-solving abilities. Your responses gave me a hopeful feeling about the future, and even after this deep conversation, I can continue to reflect and have space for self-discovery, symbolized by the long-lost family portrait you provided. I appreciated Monique's patience, giving me time to reflect on and savor things I had wanted to forget. She provided me with an opportunity to rediscover a version of myself that I can strive for -- a self with ideals and the ability to be moved. Seeing the dream-chasing and upward-striving friends around me, I want to share this beautiful experience of the journey with everyone. For friends familiar with Narrative Therapy, I sincerely recommend this page because good things are meant to be shared together. Since my words only represent one perspective, others won't fully feel the strength behind it. Therefore, I encourage everyone to check it out and experience it with Monique."

"I approached the interview with Monique with a mindset of "storytelling," and the results exceeded my expectations! Not only did I thoroughly enjoy the entire process, but it also strengthened my sense of "ownership" over my own life. I greatly appreciate the facilitator, Monique. She exuded confidence and naturalness from the start, making it easy for me to begin sharing my inner thoughts in a relaxed manner.

Joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness -- all expressed without pressure. Monique, full of respect, listened quietly and attentively, allowing me to comfortably delve into the depths of my heart. What's truly remarkable is Monique's ability to maintain a neutral role in the conversation, without judgment and unconditional acceptance. I deeply felt that I was accepted with both my light and shadow, providing me with a sense of security to courageously look forward and continue the development of my story -- seeing the light!

Curious and appreciative, I asked her, "Why can you be so non-judgmental? I was worried about how you would perceive me!" She calmly replied, "Because I respect you, the protagonist of the story; I cannot pass judgment."

In that moment of listening, Monique, with her concise and insightful questions, guided me to reflect on myself and envision how to continue my story under my own 'guidance.' Breaking the long silence of patient listening, she gently and politely asked, "You mentioned the word 'responsibility' many times. What about you? What do you most want for yourself?" This shattered the prolonged silence and prompted deep reflection on a question I had been avoiding.

Thus, I heard the voice of my own heart, breaking the silence that had lingered for so long. In this way, someone listened to my detailed narrative, and that someone included myself!"

Niki

"This conversation felt like a reorganization. Breaking down a question helped me recognize patterns in my emotions and inner reasons. I found what I truly need and desire, then rearranged the whole thing, leading to a new direction in addressing the issue.

I never thought that the 'companionship' I desired could be divided into different levels. I realized I had only been addressing the surface to seek change, without expressing the deeper expectations to enhance the relationship."

I hadn't engaged in a deep talk with someone for a very long time. After our conversation, I felt that life and growth had brought me numerous challenges. Sometimes, overthinking was adding more complexity to the issues. Having the opportunity to share and be heard felt like untangling one knot after another. Thank you for your willingness to listen!"

P.S. I never imagined I'd be so engaged and serious in our conversations."

"I'm not good with words, and because of my introverted and anxious nature, I've often felt like I'm hiding away. Many times, others couldn't truly know the real me, leading to misunderstandings and trapping me in a vicious cycle. Because of this, it has affected various aspects of my life, including my future, work, and relationships, and has been a constant source of distress.

This time, I was invited to participate in the conversation service. Before joining, I thought it might be just discussions about life, and I'd think, 'I've heard enough from family, teachers, friends, and seniors.' But deep down, I was actually looking forward to it. I'd be the center of the talk, having the chance to share my experiences, and simply being understood by someone else would bring me great satisfaction.

During the conversations, I tried to be as open as with a close friend when sharing my experiences. In the past, I'd only express myself to those I'm comfortable with, and even then, I'd hesitate to share what I find embarrassing or deeply personal. Monique didn't betray my trust, as she truly listened and empathized. What struck me the most was that in such a short time, she already understood my struggles and situation, and provided a way together with me to explore for practical options and solutions.

Monique was like an employee at a recycling center, sorting and categorizing my questions, helping me better understand my own problems. The conversation with Monique this time was truly inspiring, and I believe that everyone can gain something from talking with her!"

Kathy

"Out of curiosity, I decided to give, Monique, the service a try. Coincidentally, I was facing some recent setbacks that left me feeling somewhat entangled. I felt like voicing them out would be trivial and boring, but thankfully, I eventually found the encouragement to share. Throughout the conversation, I felt encouraged to keep talking, to share more. This made me realize that my worries weren't mundane at all.

What surprised me even more was that the conversation took me back to the beginning, allowing me to see my original self again. Slowly, from that starting point, I retraced my steps. Those warm scenes replayed in my mind, the more I thought, the more I spoke. I realized that many segments had become smaller and scattered over time, pushed to the corner due to the busyness of life. Rearranging them, placing them on my timeline, I discovered that despite some obstacles along the way, encouragement and affirmation never truly left. They always appeared just when I needed them, without any plan or preparation.

Reassessing my current problem, I saw that I had more resources and choices than I had imagined. I recalled past successes in certain areas, and in new territories, I saw potential paths. Even though the worst-case scenario seemed daunting, it didn't seem to diminish the value of what I'm doing, or even my own worth.

I'm truly grateful to Monique for giving me the opportunity to reorganize myself, which has bolstered my confidence to move forward. It turns out that being attentively listened to and deeply explored feels so right. Recounting my own story has led to numerous discoveries. I genuinely recommend this to everyone!"

“Everyone experiences confusion and perplexity at times. I am fortunate that Monique has helped me during this period, enabling me to regain my direction. Importantly, she did not give me any advice but professionally guided me step by step out of the maze, helping me regain clarity and direction. The entire process felt like a casual conversation between friends, yet it effectively helped me find the way out and reduce anxiety. I appreciate Monique's professionalism and passion for helping others, and I am grateful for the genuine conversation and journey of self-discovery she has brought to me. ”

"Initially, before meeting Monique, I was a bit worried about whether I could completely let down my guard and speak freely. However, the moment I saw Monique, all my worries vanished. Haha, maybe it's because of her warm smile, or perhaps it's because she naturally and comfortably called out my name, even though we had never met and only remembered the color of each other's jackets.

Completing the deep conversation, the strength I gained was largely due to the trust Monique instilled in me. It's hard to express, but simply believing in her made me willing to unlock my heart. Especially when I rambled on with my stories, she listened with genuine care, never once saying, "Why are you so silly?" This, in turn, made me more willing to share.

What I want to share with everyone is that even if you think what you're saying isn't much, just saying it can reveal its importance. As long as you're willing to speak, you'll gradually discover that what you say is significant. At least, you'll find out what truly matters to yourself. Thanks to Monique's words, I am more certain that I believe in hope, and that's what matters to me.

If you're hesitating, I recommend meeting Monique. Perhaps, after meeting her, your worries will dissipate. The method doesn't really matter; as long as you feel comfortable, treat it like a friendly chat."

Kristin

"At first, I was genuinely curious about why someone would be willing to spend time listening to the stories and heartfelt expressions of strangers without expecting anything in return. Recently, I had a strong desire to be heard, to have someone listen to the worries hidden in my heart without judgment or criticism. So, I decided to reach out to Monique and see if she would be willing to chat.

The process, as mentioned in other reviews, involves oneself as the storyteller, with Monique listening and asking questions. We sat in a coffee shop, and the environment made me feel relaxed. Monique's focus and sincere attitude helped me open up and engage in the conversation. She patiently listened to my words, without imposing her opinions or passing judgments. Sometimes, she posed challenging questions that I found hard to answer, yet she didn't rush me and provided enough space for reflection. Throughout the conversation, my thoughts became more concrete, and the repeated questions helped me articulate methods to face difficulties with greater strength. The discussion was fulfilling, and we ended up chatting for two and a half hours without even realizing it! In the end, I received a photo related to our conversation, serving as a reminder and encouragement.

I hope this platform continues to thrive, and I wish for more people to experience the power of being heard."

"I had considered trying the conversation with Monique several times in the past to understand how it differs from conventional counseling. Despite having little confidence in changing some of my inherent issues, as I had previously engaged in many conversations and found that certain "fundamental" problems remained unaltered, I didn't hold high hopes for this conversation.

It wasn't until I engaged in a conversation lasting over two hours that I recalled many past experiences. While conversing with Monique, I kept questioning myself: Why do I feel lacking in confidence? I discovered that deep down, I always believed in myself. I took various actions to challenge my limits. The lack of confidence I often vocalized was merely a result of being constrained by external environments and social interactions. Eventually, I started accepting this falsehood, a lie about my lack of confidence, and as the saying goes, "Say a lie a thousand times, and it becomes the truth." In the end, I too came to identify with this statement, without questioning its truthfulness.

Fortunately, Monique helped me realize that I had been a brave and confident person in the past. Learning to see myself from a different perspective, she completely overturned my previous self-perception. I discovered that the root of the problem lay in not accepting myself, and once I acknowledged it, things started falling into place. It wasn't about blindly convincing myself that I was brave but rather uncovering the true me—a person unafraid of authority, willing to speak out, unwavering in beliefs, and possessing self-confidence. I believe that this shift in perception is the change I needed, explaining why the encouragement I received in the past didn't have the transformative impact I desired.

I express my gratitude to Monique for the assistance she provided, and I hope that more people benefit from her help in the future!"

"During the days following my mother's passing, I carried a heavy burden of emotions. Summoning the courage to confide in someone, I managed to utter just a few words, only to be met with a harsh response, leaving me with an added layer of distress in my already melancholic state.

Then, one day, I stumbled upon an interview with a title that deeply resonated with me: "Hong Kongers Fear Criticism and Hesitate to Open Up; Social Worker Offers Free Conversations in Spare Time." Yes, in that moment, I desired to talk to someone but feared facing judgment again. Being economically constrained, the word "free" was especially appealing to me. That's when I contacted Monique.

Knowing that Monique had a meeting at The Peninsula later, and not wanting her to go through unnecessary trouble, we agreed to meet at The Peninsula. She was easygoing and friendly, buying a cup of coffee and sitting on an outdoor wooden chair to listen to my story for over two hours.

Since we didn't know each other, and there might not be a chance to meet again, I felt liberated from the burden of worrying about her judgment. I intended to share my recent feelings about my mother's passing, but Monique skillfully guided me back to a significant chapter from over a decade ago, prompting me to realize that all challenges and unhappiness will eventually pass.

Throughout our conversation, Monique attentively listened, skillfully guiding me to organize and share my thoughts when they became chaotic. The process made me feel at ease. What touched me the most was that she fulfilled my request by summarizing our conversation into written words, providing me with a record of the strength I gained that day.

Monique, thank you for your hard work. I appreciate your assistance in helping me break free and move forward!"

"During the days following my mother's passing, I carried a heavy burden of emotions. Summoning the courage to confide in someone, I managed to utter just a few words, only to be met with a harsh response, leaving me with an added layer of distress in my already melancholic state.

I am grateful to participate in this deep conversation for giving me the opportunity to continuously express myself. It helped me organize stories from different stages of my life, connect them, and gain a clearer understanding of how I became the person I am today.

I am naturally inclined to self-reflect, usually triggered by certain events or sudden moods and inspirations. However, these reflections are often scattered and recorded in bits and pieces. Through these conversations, I had the chance to articulate these thoughts, forming a more complete picture.

During the process, I reminisced about my past self, someone I hadn't touched base with for a long time.
It was intriguing because I thought I had forgotten many things from the past, but some key moments were still tucked away in the recesses of my mind, waiting to be revisited.

Encountering my past self allowed me to witness my growth and changes. People often say the past is best left behind, but I don't find my former self regrettable.
I am grateful for the people who influenced me along the way, shaping me into who I am today. There have been individuals who brought about transformations in my life, and I wonder how I might bring about change for others.
What will the future me be like? These are the questions left lingering from the conversation.

In this way, Monique enabled me to reconnect with my past, see my present, and look forward to my future. I believe that everyone should be the person who understands themselves the most, and what we need is a space and some time to have the opportunity to reveal ourselves more completely to ourselves."

Annabel

"An opportunity to engage in conversation with a stranger arose from my curiosity about narrative healing. Throughout the entire process, Monique displayed patience and skillful guidance. Although I didn't have any particular concerns, the dialogue allowed me to understand certain aspects of myself. It's a valuable opportunity to have someone initially explore your personality because Monique's questions prompted reflections on details that are often overlooked in everyday life.

My greatest insight is that mental well-being starts from within, and understanding oneself deeply is crucial. Monique has the ability to make you confront yourself. With an increasing number of individuals in Hong Kong advocating for mental health, I hope more people support Monique's program, bringing greater attention to our holistic well-being!"

"I am delighted to have connected with this deep conversation with Monique, allowing me to explore a version of myself that is often overlooked—the true self that rarely gets the time and understanding it deserves. You might ask, isn't the usual self the real self? I would respond that every moment is a part of myself, just a fragment of who I am. Our daily lives, work, and studies consume most of our time, dealing with various matters individually, rarely piecing together the fragments of ourselves into a complete whole.

Through conversations and starting from a snapshot, I discovered my behaviors and delved deeper into the thoughts behind them. Often, these thoughts are at the core of my being. During our conversations, there were moments when I subjectively thought that we had reached a certain point and couldn't go any deeper. I suggested changing the topic to continue self-exploration. However, Monique encouraged me to keep going, emphasizing that this way, I could uncover aspects of myself that I wasn't aware of. So, I continued to share, recalling past experiences and suddenly, "ding," it all clicked. I was able to deduce that certain behaviors stemmed from a particular thought, influencing my judgments, thoughts, and actions consciously or unconsciously.

So distant, yet so close—this phrase can also describe the distance between oneself and oneself. In this consciously deep conversation with myself, I was able to connect various aspects of myself along a single thread.

Monique is an excellent listener and a person skilled at inspiring others. With each response to my thoughts, I felt her genuine and clear engagement. Her guidance ensured that the conversation flowed effectively, allowing me to discover the authentic thoughts of my true self. Without her guidance, I might have shifted topics in the conversation, potentially missing the opportunity to unravel the thoughts of my true self.

I hope that meaningful endeavors like this continue to help more people find themselves, enabling them to embrace and affirm who they truly are."

"Everyone participating in this deep conversation has their unique opportunities, and for me, it was a chance to confirm my true self and face myself. This was my second time participating in the deep conversation with Monique, and it was a bit more challenging than the previous one because there was a knot I really wanted to untangle. In the last moments of the TALK, I experienced a swirling sensation, grounding me and giving me the feeling that I can handle things around me by following my heart. I felt genuinely at ease and comfortable.

During the conversation, there was a part where I had to debate with my "inner enemy," but in reality, it was an opportunity to face myself and give myself a chance to acknowledge my mistakes. It provided a channel to understand that I'm not the only one with these perspectives, and these perspectives don't necessarily require validation from others. I walk this path for myself, and I realize I'm not blindly and irrationally choosing to give up. Instead, I consider various factors and avoid forcing myself to persist in things that fundamentally go against my principles. 'SoSo, I owe you an apology!'

Facing oneself is a moment of regret, guilt, and frustration, as even oneself doesn't support oneself. I just want to shout, "What are you doing?" So, I found the answer – I need to create space for myself to exist. Though it may sound simple, in reality, finding a set of methods that belong to me is a challenge. I'm fortunate that through the process of learning from experience and reflection, I've strengthened my own ideas and methods.

Moreover, I'm aware that I lack a reason, a meaning in life. I tell myself not to hesitate, to have a driving force within me. It's not that I don't have it; it's just scattered, and I don't know which is more important or the most important. So, I hope in the not too distant future, I can find it."

"This deep conversation with Monique has helped me gain a clearer understanding of myself.

Ever since studying social work, I found myself often thinking negatively, making it challenging to express myself positively to both myself and those around me. Although I knew I wanted to improve and think more positively, my attempts often ended in failure, and my emotions were perpetually influenced by negativity.

After experiencing conversation with Monique, I slowly revisited each profound experience, situations where negative thoughts or emotions impacted me. I discovered that I wasn't as entirely negative as I had imagined, and there were moments of subtle joy. Monique and I worked together to organize my memories, set goals, and I hope to truly achieve them.

Thanks to Monique for helping me rediscover the positive aspects of myself during those moments, giving me more confidence and determination to kick away my negative thoughts.

I hope more friends who are struggling can gather the courage to try this experience. You will find effective methods and discover another side of yourself."

Together, we'll chart a roadmap that aligns with your aspirations and sparks positive change, whether it's in your career, relationships, or personal wellbeing.
